Job summary

Crossroads Animal Hospital in Louisiana is seeking a Kennel Assistant to support grooming and boarding needs. You will help admit and care for patients, follow client instructions, and work with the veterinary team to ensure clean, safe, and comfortable conditions.

Responsibilities include walking dogs, feeding, administering medications as directed by the Doctor or Technician, and maintaining kennels, cages, and ward areas. Weekend and holiday availability may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provides great care for patients visiting the practice for grooming and/or boarding.
• Ensures patients are admitted with client instructions for a quality outcome, including contact information and pickup time.
• Records patient information such as feeding schedules, appearance, and behavior.
• Observes patient condition for signs of illness or discomfort.
• Properly restrains difficult patients when needed; handles patients safely.
• Walks patients several times daily for exercise and relief.
• Provides appropriate food and liquids as required by the patient.
• Ensures patients are clean and well cared for prior to discharge; returns personal belongings.
• Keeps cages and kennels numbered and organized; stores personal items properly.
• Regularly cleans and disinfects kennels, cages, runs, and stalls to prevent odors and disease spread.
• Launders and dries towels and blankets; maintains hospital hygiene.
• Maintains hospital grounds and waste; performs other duties as assigned.
