Job summary

VCA Greater Savannah Animal Hospital in Savannah, GA is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our general practice team. You will be involved in exams, diagnostics, patient care, and daily hospital operations.

This full-time position offers 4 ten-hour shifts with Saturday rotation; you will work closely with veterinarians and technicians to deliver high-quality care and compassionate service to every patient and their family.

Qualifications

• Monitors hospitalized patients, observing… changes in behavior, comfort, and vital signs.
• Hands-on approach to pharmacy support, treatments, procedures, and diagnostics.
• Prepares treatment areas, exam rooms, and surgical suites, keeping a clean environment.
• Supports patient husbandry for hospitalized patients—feeding, walking, and care.
• Assists with laboratory procedures and basic diagnostic testing.
• Administers medications and maintains accurate patient records.
• Assists with client communication, education, and patient intake/discharge.
• Communicates clearly with veterinarians, technicians, and the care team.

Responsibilities

• Monitor hospitalized patients and report changes to the veterinary team.
• Assist with exams, treatments, diagnostics, and procedures.
• Prepare exam rooms, surgical suites, and maintain sterile environments.
• Support patient care from intake to discharge and provide education to owners.
• Document medications and patient records accurately.
• Collaborate with veterinarians and technicians to keep patients moving smoothly.
