Job summary

Small Door, a veterinary care network, is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join a state-of-the-art, AAHA-accredited practice. You will work closely with doctors and nurses in a collaborative, supportive environment, focusing on patient care, radiography, and lab work while delivering Fear Free, high-quality service.

Responsibilities include vitals, treatments, medications, tele-triage shifts, and maintaining a hospitable clinic culture.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of veterinary assistant experience.
• Availability to work weekends (Saturday or Sunday).
• Comfortable with computers and online tools.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Thoughtful and fearless team player with initiative.
• Strong client communication and love for pets.

Responsibilities

• Recognize medical emergencies and illnesses.
• Assessing patients.
• Record vitals and assist doctors with diagnostics.
• Complete treatments as instructed by the doctor.
• Basic husbandry and nursing care.
• Monitor changes in patients and provide compassionate care.
• Assist in and facilitate radiography capture.
• Prepare samples for outside reference labs.
• Run in-house labs.
• Prepare medications and administer as directed.
• Work tele-triage shifts (additional stipend).
• Maintain a hospitable environment.
