Job summary

Arrowhead Animal Hospital, part of the Suveto network of hospitals, is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in various areas of the hospital, provide professional client service, and help maintain a compassionate, fast-paced environment for our patients.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a veterinary hospital or similar setting is preferred.
• High school diploma or the equivalent is required.
• Knowledge of basic animal care and medical terminology.
• Ability to handle and restrain animals safely and effectively.
• Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to learn and take direction from veterinarians and senior staff members.
• Compassionate nature and genuine love for animals.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms and assist in appointments with doctors.
• Take history from client and record observations in medical records.
• Educate clients on preventative healthcare and provide follow-up.
• Communicate patient or client concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Perform venipuncture, in-house lab tests, and send results to outside labs.
• Provide and monitor nursing care, including medications and monitoring.
• Admit and discharge patients following protocols and educate clients.
• Restock and clean exam rooms and treatment areas.
• Use practice software for medication dispensing, treatment sheets, labels, and documentation.
• Enforce OSHA regulations and hospital safety standards.
• Perform client callbacks and updates as requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
