Job summary

Village Veterinary Medical Center in Farragut, TN seeks a Veterinary Assistant for a full-time position with four 10-hour shifts. The role supports veterinarians and technicians in patient care, diagnostics, and client communication, while contributing to a fast-paced, team-driven practice focused on compassionate pet care.

You will participate in exams, labs, vaccines, and minor procedures, with opportunities for growth and on-the-job training as you pursue veterinary certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient care during appointments, support, and diagnostics.
• Assist with restraining, handling, and lifting animals.
• Obtain comprehensive patient histories and maintain medical records.
• Perform routine in-house lab work, radiographs, and diagnostics support.
• Prepare, calculate, and administer medications and vaccines as directed.
• Support surgeries and procedures and prepare patients for treatment.
• Monitor hospitalized patients and provide nursing and comfort care.
• Communicate with clients regarding care, discharge instructions, and education.
• Maintain cleanliness, sterilization, and organization of hospital areas.
• Assist with stocking supplies and inventory maintenance.
• Support reception, kennel, and treatment areas as needed.
• Help maintain efficient patient flow and collaborate with the medical team.
