Job summary

Fairview Veterinary Hospital in Maryville, TN is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians with patient care, diagnostics, and in-house labs. The role includes assisting with exams, monitoring hospitalized pets, and helping with surgical procedures.

Requirements include prior veterinary experience; exotic experience is a plus. Applicants should be able to lift up to 25 pounds and work weekends as needed. Benefits and comprehensive training are provided.

• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds; assist with heavier loads with help.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in medicine and surgery as needed.
• Take histories, vital signs, and weights in outpatient exams and educate clients.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during procedures.
• Obtain samples and perform in-house lab work; prepare specimens for outside labs.
• Take and develop radiographs following safety procedures.
• Assist with handling and restraining animals; monitor medications and vaccines.
• Restock and clean exam rooms, assist with equipment upkeep.
• Communicate with clients and team members; maintain professional warmth and courtesy.
