Job summary

PetVet Care Centers’ Hohenwald Animal Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in daily tasks, including cleaning, feeding, restraining patients, preparing surgery suites, and handling administrative duties.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be comfortable around dogs and cats.
• Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors.
• This is a strenuous job that requires a lot of lifting, cleaning, and constant motion. May involve climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to all patients.
• Greet patients and their owners, take weight and vital signs upon arrival, and guide them to an examining room.
• Triage patients, support doctors and technicians, administer medications as directed, and assist with restraints.
• Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs.
• Maintain medical records and complete documentation for medications and controlled substances.
• Keep the hospital clean and safe, manage kennels and equipment, and assist with grooming and bathing as needed.
• Educate clients about wellness plans and insurance, and discuss hospital products and services.
