Job summary

Thrive Pet Healthcare is seeking a Veterinary Assistant for Penfield Veterinary Hospital in Rochester, NY. This full-time position supports veterinarians and licensed technicians during procedures and daily care.

Expect 30–40 hours per week with some Saturdays as needed. The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of experience in animal care, strong attention to detail, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in animal husbandry is required.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are essential.
• High school diploma or equivalent; AAS or higher preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist DVMs and LVTs during pre-op, surgery, and post-op.
• Stock exam and treatment rooms with supplies and maintain sterile environment.
• Record patient history and update medical records in the information system.
• Dispense pharmaceuticals as required with accuracy.
• Place weekly inventory orders and manage on-hand inventory.
