Preferred qualifications include a NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program certificate or equivalent and a high school diploma.

Qualifications

• NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program certification or equivalent
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• NAVTA-approved program experience preferred or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Help maintain the flow of patients
• Communicate with the veterinarian and vet techs
• Carry out or set up procedures that do not require veterinarian or vet tech assistance
• Adhere to hospital standards that keep pets safe and the treatment areas clean
• Educate clients about preventive care and available plans
• Mentor other members of the hospital team

Education

NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program certificate
