Job summary

Lansdowne Animal Hospital in Leesburg, VA is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team and support exam rooms, client engagement, and outpatient visits with compassion and accuracy. This part-time role offers $22-$25 per hour with room to grow into a full-time position, a flexible schedule (Monday–Friday with rotating weekend availability), and benefits for full-time staff.

Qualifications

• 1+ year experience in veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel assistant, or related role preferred
• Proficiency in safe animal handling and restraint for dogs and cats of varying sizes
• Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and patient care principles
• Ability to assist with exams, treatments, and outpatient procedures
• Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining weights and vital signs preferred
• Phlebotomy & SQ injections
• Ability to maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols

Responsibilities

• Support efficient exam room and outpatient workflow to ensure exceptional patient and client care
• Maintain accurate, thorough medical records and treatment documentation
• Review treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
• Support veterinarians during outpatient procedures and treatments while providing high-quality patient care
• Build positive relationships with clients through education, communication, and attentive service
