Companion Animal Clinic, part of Veterinary Innovative Partners, is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant in Fairfax Station, VA. The role supports veterinarians and technicians, providing compassionate care and teamwork across a busy small animal practice.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of veterinary medical practices and terminology.
• Ability to handle and restrain animals calmly, including stressed or fearful pets.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in using veterinary software for patient records and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with veterinarians, technicians, and staff to ensure high-quality patient care.
• Assist with examinations, procedures and surgeries; prep equipment and supplies.
• Administer medications, vaccines, labs and treatments as prescribed.
• Monitor anesthesia and patient vitals during surgeries and dental procedures.
• Provide nursing care to hospitalized patients, including wound care and IV therapy.
• Communicate treatment plans and patient status to pet owners; document histories.
