Job summary

Heartland Veterinary Partners LLC in Chagrin Falls is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to assist veterinarians in a full-service animal hospital. The role involves preparing patients for surgery, monitoring vital signs, and performing laboratory tests, while providing excellent client care.

Applicants should have previous veterinary experience and strong communication skills. This position offers competitive pay of $16.00 to $18.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Ability to work on weekends as required.
• Previous veterinary experience preferred.
• Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds.
• Practice OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE.
• Basic math and ability to calculate medication dosages.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with MS Office applications.
• Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during surgery.
• Obtain blood and other samples; perform in-hospital laboratory testing.
• Take and maintain radiographs following safety procedures.
• Provide animal handling and restrain animals during exams.
• Clean and maintain medical equipment and public areas.
