Job summary

Pet Wellness Center is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in patient care, assist with exams, and help with labs and imaging. The role emphasizes teamwork, client communication, and compassionate care for pets.

Responsibilities include assisting with surgeries, monitoring patients, handling specimens, and maintaining clean, organized treatment areas. Weekend work may be required; compensation starts at $15 per hour with a benefits package.

Qualifications

• Ability to work on weekends as required.
• Previous veterinary experience preferred.
• Lift patients and equipment up to 25 pounds; assist with heavier lifts with help.
• Practice OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE.
• Basic math and the ability to calculate medication dosages.
• Basic computer skills, familiarity with MS Office applications.
• Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient care and treatment.
• Monitor hospitalized pets and maintain inventory.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during procedures.
• Obtain samples and perform in-house lab work; prepare specimens for outside labs.
• Take, develop and maintain radiographs following safety procedures.
• Demonstrate warmth, courtesy and professionalism with clients and patients.
• Communicate with veterinarians and team members regarding patient plans and concerns.
• Any other duties as assigned.
