Job summary

Village Veterinary Clinic is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team and support excellent client and patient care across hospital services. We care for dogs, cats, pocket pets and exotics, offering a versatile environment with opportunities to learn daily.

You will assist in exam rooms, outpatient and surgical procedures, maintain records, and educate clients on treatment plans and home care.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of recent experience in a veterinary assistant or related role.
• Proficiency in safe animal handling and restraint for dogs, cats, exotics and pocket pets.
• Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and patient care principles.
• Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining patient weights and vital signs.
• Venipuncture and administering injections.
• Radiology technique and positioning.
• In-house and reference laboratory processing.
• Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
• Physical ability to stand, bend, lift, and restrain patients safely.

Responsibilities

• Supporting efficient exam room, outpatient and surgical workflows.
• Preparing patients, equipment, and treatment areas for appointments and procedures.
• Maintaining accurate medical records and treatment documentation.
• Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately.
• Building positive client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service.
• Maintaining clean, organized, and fully prepared exam rooms, treatment areas, and procedural spaces.
