Job summary

Emergency Veterinary Hospital in Springfield, OR is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in a fast-paced 24/7 ER setting. This full-time role offers day and overnight shifts, with a pay range of $20–$25 per hour and a benefits package including PTO, 401K, medical, dental, and more.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED and NAVTA-approved Veterinary Assistant program preferred; one year of pet-care experience is also preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• NAVTA-approved Veterinary Assistant program certificate preferred.
• One year of experience in a pet care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and disinfect exam rooms and equipment between visits.
• Obtain patient information, medical histories, and vaccination records.
• Calmly restrain pets during procedures and monitor their status.
• Educate owners on pet care and post-procedure care.
• Monitor vital signs after procedures and during hospitalization.
• Maintain accurate records and assist with basic lab tests and medication administration.
