Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Monterey, CA is seeking a detail-oriented, multitasking, team-focused Veterinary Assistant for our busy Emergency and Internal Medicine department on a rotating schedule.

Schedule: Tuesday + Wednesday in Internal Medicine, Friday + Saturday in Emergency. 7:30am-6pm (4/10s). Pay is $23–$33 per hour, dependent on experience and leveling through a competency system. Saturday shift differential offered: $4.00.

Responsibilities

• Calmly and gently approach and handle our patients according to safety protocols and our core values
• Identify abnormal pathology
• Understand hospital estimates and clearly present and explain them to our clients
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns
• Educate clients in the areas of Internal Medicine and provide exceptional care for our patients
• Prepare medications and our patients/clients for discharge with concise directions for our clients
• Support your Internal Medicine team in all aspects of care for your patients

The Internal Medical Service attends to a wide variety of cases and manages complex long-term disease processes. Assistants in this service will assist their team in all medical and endoscopic procedures associated with maintaining and stabilizing their patients.
