Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Skokie, IL is looking for a Veterinary Assistant to join our team!

Position: Veterinary Assistant in our ER department.

Work Schedule: Full-Time; Day shift 8am-8pm

Pay Range VAI: $20.30 - $27.80/hour

*This pay band depends on local veterinary licensing, experience, and progression through our competency assessment tool.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards and core values.
2. Understand medication classifications, side effects, and monitor therapeutic responses.
3. Accurately measure vital signs such as heart rate, pulse, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate, and effort.
4. Work with software like Cornerstone and Instinct.
5. Stay current with R.E.C.O.V.E.R. CPR guidelines.
6. Assist DVMs and CVTs during exams and treatments.
7. Feed, bathe, and enrich patients.
8. Maintain a clean and organized hospital environment.
9. Assist with exams, diagnostics, and procedures, including advanced procedures like endoscopy, thoracocentesis, and abdominocentesis.
10. Monitor and care for patients post-procedure.
