Job summary

PetVet Care Centers' Chicago Equine Medical Center in Wauconda, IL seeks a Veterinary Assistant to support hospital operations and provide quality care for our patients and clients. Responsibilities include patient care, exams, diagnostics, surgery assistance, nursing care, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience with veterinary appointments, surgeries, and nursing care for hospitalized/critical patients preferred.
• Must be able to lift and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Must be 18 years or older to apply.

Responsibilities

• Determine animal requirements by examinations and reviewing care plans.
• Record and communicate patient conditions and treatments to owners as directed by the veterinarian.
• Assist during examinations and operations; prepare supplies and restrain patients as needed.
• Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments; document and secure controlled drugs.
• Maintain clean, organized medical records and treatment areas; ensure proper sterilization of instruments.
• Provide compassionate patient care and support the veterinary team during procedures.
