Job summary

Animal Emergency & Specialty Center (AESC) in Parker, CO is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join our 24/7 team. This role supports veterinarians and RVTs in urgent care, prepares exam rooms, collects vitals, assists with restraints, and helps manage hospitalized patients.

We offer a competitive wage: $18–$22/hour with a $2.50/hour overnight differential after 6pm, Health/Dental/Vision, 401(k) with matching, CE allowances, uniform allowance, PTO, holiday pay, on-call incentives,

Qualifications

• At least ONE YEAR of veterinary assistant experience is REQUIRED.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required; bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms for each visit, including tools needed for each exam.
• Retrieve patient charts from client services or referring department on behalf of technicians.
• Obtain vitals, labs, and diagnostics as needed per doctor orders.
• Assist with animal restraint for exams and procedures.
• Care for hospitalized patients and monitor vital signs under supervision.
• Clean kennels, runs, and treatment areas; assist in ultrasound as needed.
• Laundry and basic grooming as needed.
• Perform other duties as required.

Job Description

Emergency Assistants play a vital support role in providing urgent and intensive care to animals in critical conditions under the supervision of veterinarians and registered veterinary technicians.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms for each visit, including tools needed for each exam.
• Retrieve patient charts from client services or referring department on behalf of the technicians when asked.
• Obtain other vitals, lab work, and diagnostics as needed per doctors or technician orders.
• Perform and assist with all aspects of animal restraint for exams and procedures.
• Care for hospitalized patients - administer medications, monitor vital signs, other duties as ordered by the treating veterinarian or treating ER technician
• Clean kennels, runs, wet tables and all other areas of the treatment area and hospital as needed.
• Assist in Ultrasound if needed.
• Laundry
• Basic grooming as needed.
• Other duties as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• At least ONE YEAR of veterinary assistant experience is REQUIRED to be considered for this role!
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!

Preferred Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a veterinary assistant with job responsibilities that required animal restraint and taking radiographs
• Experience in a emergency/specialty setting
• Knowledge of EasyVet or similar medical record systems.
