Job summary

Animal Emergency & Specialty Center (AESC) in Parker, CO seeks an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and techs in critical care. Responsibilities include room prep, chart retrieval, vitals collection, restraint, and patient care in a 24/7 setting.

The role offers competitive pay with an overnight differential after 6pm and a comprehensive benefits package. Experience in emergency or specialty practice is preferred.

Qualifications

• At least ONE YEAR of veterinary assistant experience is REQUIRED.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required; other languages a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms for each visit and gather necessary tools.
• Retrieve patient charts from client services or referring department as needed.
• Obtain vitals, lab work, and diagnostics as directed by doctors or technicians.
• Assist with animal restraint for exams and procedures.
• Care for hospitalized patients: administer meds, monitor vitals, and assist ER staff.
• Clean kennels, runs, wet tables, and treatment areas as needed.
• Assist in ultrasound if required.
• Perform laundry and basic grooming as needed.
• Support team with other duties as assigned.

Job Description
Emergency Assistants play a vital support role in providing urgent and intensive care to animals in critical conditions under the supervision of veterinarians and registered veterinary technicians.
Responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms for each visit, including tools needed for each exam.
• Retrieve patient charts from client services or referring department on behalf of the technicians when asked.
• Obtain other vitals, lab work, and diagnostics as needed per doctors or technician orders.
• Perform and assist with all aspects of animal restraint for exams and procedures.
• Care for hospitalized patients - administer medications, monitor vital signs, other duties as ordered by the treating veterinarian or treating ER technician
• Clean kennels, runs, wet tables and all other areas of the treatment area and hospital as needed.
• Assist in Ultrasound if needed.
• Laundry
• Basic grooming as needed.
• Other duties as needed.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:

• At least ONE YEAR of veterinary assistant experience is REQUIRED to be considered for this role!
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!

Preferred Qualifications:

• Two years of experience as a veterinary assistant with job responsibilities that required animal restraint and taking radiographs
• Experience in a emergency/specialty setting
• Knowledge of EasyVet or similar medical record systems.
