Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Lafayette, CO is seeking an experienced Critical Care Veterinary Assistant for a full-time role. 1-3 years vet med experience required; pay ranges from $22 to $29 per hour, with shift differentials for nights and weekends.

You'll provide nursing care, monitor patients, administer medications, and assist with anesthesia and CPR guidelines. The role includes on-call/holiday contributions and a Tuesday-Thursday schedule from 8a-8p.

• Understand medications, side effects, and monitor therapeutic responses.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand medication classifications, monitor side effects, and monitor response to treatment.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform physical exams and track vitals (heart rate, temperature, respiration, mucous membranes).
• Assist with anesthesia/monitoring equipment and ASA I/II patients.
• Demonstrate knowledge of RECOVER CPR guidelines and assist as assigned.

Our BluePearl Pet Hospital in Lafayette, CO is looking for a experienced Critical Care Veterinary Assistant to join our team on a full-time basis!

* 1-3 years vet med experience required

Pay: $22 - $29 / hour

Pay is dependent on experience and advancement through the CareerTrax leveling system. We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends. *Shift differentials are based on a 4 hour minimum.

Schedule: Tuesday - Thursday; 8a-8p (ER/ICU on-call & holidays contributions required).

As a Veterinary Assistant, you will:

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.
• Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
