Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients per hospital standards and core values.

• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform phlebotomy.
• Conduct physical exams including vitals and mucous membranes.
• Assist with anesthesia/monitoring equipment for ASA I–II patients.
• Stay current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and role during shifts.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant to join their Critical Care department.

Pay: $21.26 - $31.45/Hr

Our Veterinary Assistants perform diagnostics (radiographs, labwork , etc ), setting patients up in ICU or Inpatient ward, discharging patients, and handle client communication.

As a Critical Care Veterinary Assistant, you will:

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.

• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.

• Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.

• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.

• Perform phlebotomy.

• Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.

• Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.

• Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
