Position Overview
We are seeking a flexible, compassionate, and energetic Client & Medical Support Floater to join our team. This unique hybrid role bridges client service and medical support—offering a dynamic opportunity for someone who thrives on variety and values both interpersonal and clinical aspects of veterinary care.
You’ll serve as a friendly face at our front desk and a vital helping hand in exam rooms, surgery prep, and patient care. This is an ideal position for someone with a well-rounded veterinary background who is eager to grow and make a meaningful difference across multiple touchpoints of the pet care experience.
What You’ll Do
Client Service Responsibilities:
- Welcome clients and pets with warmth and professionalism.
- Schedule appointments, manage phone and email communications.
- Process check-ins, check-outs, payments, and medical record updates.
- Educate clients about our services, wellness plans, and care instructions.
- Support client retention through proactive communication and follow-ups.
Medical Support Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians during exams, procedures, and surgeries.
- Safely restrain animals and monitor anesthesia as trained.
- Administer medications, perform basic procedures (nail trims, ear cleanings, etc.).
- Collect lab samples and support diagnostics (x-rays, vitals, etc.).
- Maintain accurate medical records and assist with inventory and prep.
- Seamlessly transition between front and back-of-house responsibilities.
- Communicate clearly across departments to ensure consistent care.
- Pitch in during busy times, emergencies, or staff absences.
What You’ll Bring
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1+ year in a veterinary setting preferred.
- Experience with client service, veterinary software specifically Shepherd, and/or clinical support roles.
Skills & Attributes:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Adaptability—comfortable switching gears and wearing many hats.
- A calm, compassionate demeanor in emotional or high-pressure situations.
- Excellent organization and attention to detail.
- Genuine love for animals and a deep respect for clients.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs and handle animals of all sizes.
- Comfortable standing, walking, or sitting for long periods.
- Willing to work in a clinical setting with animal and chemical exposure.
