Job summary

WellHaven Pet Health is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians, ensuring the well-being of pets, educating clients, and upholding high standards of veterinary care. The Veterinary Assistant will assist in surgery, dentistry, laboratory procedures, venipuncture, and patient intake, while maintaining accurate medical records and a sterile environment.

This onsite role emphasizes compassion, teamwork, and client education.

Qualifications

• 6+ months of experience in the veterinary industry.
• Completion of NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program preferred.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in a fast-paced hospital.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate proficiency in surgery, dentistry, lab procedures, and venipuncture.
• Maintain accurate medical charting and hospital records.
• Educate clients about wellness plans and pet care.
• Assist in reception tasks: phone calls, scheduling, intake and discharge.
• Obtain medical history and patient information.
• Manage hospital supplies and inventory.
