Job summary

Animal Hospital of Beulah in Pensacola, FL, is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in patient care, exams, and surgeries. You will monitor hospitalized pets, manage in-house labs, prepare prescriptions and educate clients about care and procedures.

The schedule offers a 4-day work week with no weekends. Responsibilities include taking histories and vital signs, assisting with surgeries, handling samples, and maintaining clean, organized work areas.

Qualifications

• Clear communication of instructions to clients and teammates to ensure patient care.

• Keeps accurate tracking of lab specimens, meds, instructions and workflow.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient care and surgery as needed.
• Take histories, vital signs and weights during outpatient exams and educate clients.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during procedures.
• Obtain samples and perform in-house lab testing; prepare specimens for external labs.
• Take and develop radiographs following safety procedures.
• Handle and restrain animals during exams as required.
• Administer medications, anesthesia, vaccines and treatments per veterinarian guidance.
• Keep exam rooms, labs and equipment clean and stocked; support the team.
• Demonstrate warmth, courtesy and professionalism with clients and patients.
