Job Description Summary

The Veterinary Assistant is a key member of the hospital team, supporting veterinarians and veterinary technicians, ensuring the safety of pets, clients, associates, and maintaining the quality of veterinary care.

Preferred Education/Licenses

Certificate of completion from a NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program or equivalent education, training, and experience. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Preferred Experience

Ability to perform all required skills of NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant programs at a level that supports practice efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Help maintain the flow of patients
• Communicate with veterinarians and vet techs
• Set up or carry out procedures without veterinarian or tech assistance
• Adhere to hospital standards for pet safety and cleanliness
• Educate clients about wellness plans and preventive care
• Mentor other team members

Pay Range

$16.79 - $21.46 per hour, based on experience, skills, and location.
