Job summary

Adams County Animal Hospital in Westminster, CO is seeking a compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our small-animal general practice team. We provide wellness care, same-day sick appointments, dentistry, surgery, diagnostics, and preventive care in a supportive environment.

You will assist veterinarians and technicians, safely restrain pets, prepare treatment areas, and help educate clients about medications and follow-up care.

Qualifications

• Experience as a veterinary assistant or related animal-care role is preferred.
• Comfortable handling dogs and cats of different sizes and temperaments.
• Willing to learn and accept feedback; able to lift or assist with animals.
• Capable of standing for extended periods in a busy clinical setting and staying organized.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during appointments and procedures.
• Safely restrain dogs and cats using compassionate, low-stress techniques.
• Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas.
• Assist with laboratory testing, radiographs, treatments, and sample collection.
• Support surgical and dental preparation, monitoring, and recovery.
• Clean, disinfect, and maintain equipment and patient-care areas.
• Accurately document patient information and communicate with the medical team.
• Help educate clients about medications, treatments, and follow-up care.
• Provide friendly, professional service to clients and their pets.
• Support teammates and assist with other hospital responsibilities as needed.
