Job summary

Alliance Animal Health is seeking a Veterinary Assistant for North Gateway Animal Hospital in West Virginia. The role involves patient restraint, lab work, imaging, anesthesia support, and client communication.

You will join a team focused on compassionate, high-quality care across two locations and ongoing professional development. Responsibilities include triage, sample collection, radiographs, surgical prep, and assisting veterinarians in medical and surgical cases.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Pet restraint and triage of incoming patients.

• General Practice/Small Animal clinic with some large animal

North Gateway will be the primary location for this position; however, candidates may also be considered for opportunities at our Gateway Animal Hospital location at 55 MacCorkle Avenue, Saint Albans, WV 25177.

Job Description

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

We’re looking for:

• An experienced Veterinary Assistant with a minimum of 1-year experience preferred.
• Compassionate and calm team-player
• Ability to multi-task
• Strong communication skills
• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring are a bonus!
• Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.
