Job summary

Hope Springs Veterinary at Great Bridge in Virginia Beach is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join a caring, patient-focused team. You will assist veterinarians in exams and surgery, and help ensure excellent care for clients and patients.

You will perform venipuncture, restraint, radiographic positioning, medication filling, and anesthesia monitoring, while educating clients about pet care and preventive measures. A high school diploma is required.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Be able to handle a high paced environment and be a successful multitasker.
• Possess a high level of interest in customer service and the ability to communicate with clients and fellow team members not just pets.
• The ability to meet the physical demands of working a shift standing, squatting, walking, lifting and carrying 40 lbs unassisted.
• The ability to work around substances such as animal saliva, blood, urine, fecal material, vomit, etc.
• Comfortable and able to work with all breeds, temperaments, and sizes of dogs and cats.
• At least one year experience working in a veterinary hospital environment.
