Job Description

Animal Medical Center is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our team. We are a high-volume small animal practice located in Tuscaloosa, AL, offering small animal medicine, surgery, and dentistry, along with behavioral consultations and care for small mammals. We promote continual education and training to help our staff grow clinically while providing excellent patient care with a Fear Free approach.

Qualifications: Minimum two years veterinary experience. The candidate should have a pleasant professional attitude, a strong desire to learn, be self-motivated, a team player, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Comfort with multi-tasking, active work, and friendly animal and client interactions are essential. Excellent client communication and patient-handling skills are required.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

• Patient restraint to assist Veterinarians & Technicians
• Assist with patient care and monitoring post-surgery
• Maintain inventory and sterilize surgical instruments
• Assist with diagnostic tests and radiographs
• Clean and disinfect hospital areas
• Administer medications under supervision
• Transport patients, check out clients, and stock supplies
