Home Veterinary Services, LLC is seeking a compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our growing practice in Trumbull, CT. You will assist veterinarians and technicians, restrain animals, and maintain clean, organized exam and treatment areas.

The role emphasizes teamwork, reliable attendance, and the ability to work calmly under pressure while providing excellent client communication and animal care.

Qualifications

• 1 year minimum of veterinary experience preferred.
• Strong love and respect for animals.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Teamwork and reliability are essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians with examinations and treatments.
• Safely restrain and handle dogs, cats, and other patients.
• Prepare examination and treatment areas.
• Clean and disinfect kennels, equipment and treatment areas.
• Assist with animal care, feeding, walking, and monitoring.
• Collect, prepare and perform laboratory samples as directed.
• Assist with radiographs and ultrasounds.
• Maintain accurate medical records and communicate with clients.
• Provide support during procedures and appointments.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe hospital environment.
• Perform other duties to support the team.

Job description

We are looking for a compassionate, dependable, and motivated Veterinary Assistant to join our growing veterinary practice. Home Veterinary Services is a full-service veterinary clinic offering state-of-the-art resources in the comfort of a remodeled 1918 craftsman style home in Trumbull.

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with examinations and treatments
• Safely restrain and handle dogs, cats, and other patients
• Prepare examination and treatment areas
• Clean and disinfect kennels, equipment, and treatment areas
• Assist with animal care, feeding, walking, and monitoring
• Collect, prepare and perform laboratory samples as directed
• Assist with Radiographs and ultrasounds
• Help maintain accurate medical records
• Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients (in-person as well as over the phone)
• Provide support during procedures and appointments
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe hospital environment
• Perform other duties as needed to support the veterinary team

Qualifications

• Previous veterinary experience preferred - 1 year minimum.
• A genuine love and respect for animals
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn
• Comfortable working with animals of different sizes and temperaments
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure
• Proficient in sample collection and obtaining medical histories
• Veterinary Assistant certification is a plus but not required
• Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset

Additional Information

Pay Range: $18-$21/hr
