Job summary

AmeriVet’s Toledo-area veterinary team seeks a compassionate veterinary assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in examinations, treatments, diagnostics, and surgery. You will safely handle patients, prepare rooms, collect samples, and help educate clients on preventive care.

The role emphasizes teamwork, organization, and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care and client service in a busy animal hospital setting.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a veterinary assistant preferred.
  • Strong animal handling skills and knowledge of basic veterinary procedures.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Passion for providing exceptional patient care and outstanding client service.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians and technicians with examinations, treatments, diagnostics, and surgical procedures.
  • Safely handle and restrain patients during examinations and medical procedures.
  • Prepare exam rooms, surgical suites, equipment, and supplies.
  • Collect laboratory samples and maintain accurate patient records.
  • Administer medications and vaccines as directed by the veterinarian and within the scope of Ohio regulations.
  • Educate clients on preventive care, medications, and discharge instructions.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient hospital environment.
  • Collaborate with the entire team to provide an exceptional experience for patients and clients.
