Job summary

Tenafly Veterinary Center is seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our team of veterinarians, technicians, and support staff dedicated to high-quality animal care and customer service.

Salary is $20-$27 per hour, based on skills and experience. Schedule includes four weekday shifts from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Saturday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with availability every Saturday required. We offer comprehensive benefits and a caring, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with animals in a veterinary setting.
• Knowledge of disinfection, medication administration, and diagnostic equipment.
• Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
• Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment.
• Perform basic laboratory tests (blood, urine, stool).
• Administer medications and vaccinations under supervision.
• Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Communicate with pet owners about care, treatment plans, and follow-ups.
• Keep clinic clean and stocked; ensure a sanitary environment.

• Clean and maintain the clinic, including stocking supplies and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment

Qualifications:

• Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary setting.
• Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
• Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
