Animal Hospital of Old Saybrook is seeking a compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join the Rarebreed clinic in Old Saybrook, CT. You will work with experienced veterinarians in a family-focused practice using the latest technology and training facilities to deliver top-quality care to beloved pets.

This position includes front-desk tasks, patient file prep, basic in-house tests, radiographs, blood draws, and treatment assistance.

Qualifications

• 1+ year veterinary experience or education.
• Team-oriented.
• Ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to clients via phone and in person.
• Answer telephone calls quickly and professionally using a multi-line system.
• Warmly greet clients.
• Prepare patient files.
• Update client financial records and medical notes.
• Answer inquiries about basic animal care and routine procedures.
• Educate clients on treatments, tests, and medications.
• Admit patients and manage medical records entries.
• Prepare client invoices and handle payments.
• Take radiographs and perform blood draws.
• Run in-house labs and restrain animals as needed.
• Keep cages clean and sanitized and assist with daily duties.

Veterinary Assistant

Animal Hospital of Old Saybrook in Old Saybrook, CT

$18.00-$20.00 an hour (based on experience)

What You’ll Do

• Demonstrateexcellent customer service with clients via phone and in-person
• Answers telephone calls quickly, efficiently, and in a professional and friendly manner using a multi-line system
• Warmly greets clients
• Prepares patient files
• Receives and relays client correspondence and updates client financial records
• Answers client’s inquiries about basic animal care questions and routine procedures
• Educates clients, answergeneral questionsabout treatments, laboratory tests, and explaining administration of medications
• Admits patients and handles medical records entries accurately
• Prepares client invoices for services performed
• Handles payment transactions
• Receives and relays telephone, fax, and email messages accurately and promptly
• Executing treatment orders
• Keeping cages clean and sanitized
• Walking,feedingand picking up after patients
• Various housekeeping duties (laundry, dishes, mopping, taking outgarbageetc.)
• Restraininganimals
• Collecting urine samples
• Run in-house labs
• Taking radiographs
• Performing blood draws
• Filling prescribed medications
