Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Savannah, GA is seeking a skilled Veterinary Assistant to join our team. You will provide nursing care to patients and assist during procedures, monitor vital signs, and help with fluids and IV therapy.

We offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked at nights and weekends. Pay ranges from $17.50 to $25.90 per hour, depending on experience and advancement through our competency tool.

Qualifications

• Provide nursing care to stable patients following hospital standards.
• Ability to place peripheral IV catheter in cephalic vein.
• Monitor vital parameters and report abnormalities.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.
• Perform physical exam; monitor heart rate, pulse, capillary refill, mucous membranes, temperature and respiration.
• Understand normal vital parameters and alert doctor when abnormal.
• Set up intravenous fluids and administer subcutaneous fluids.
• Operate and troubleshoot IV fluid pumps and connect/disconnect fluids aseptically.
• Monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Savannah, GA is seeking a skilled a Veterinary Assistant to join our team!

Pay: $17.50 - $25.90 / hour + competitive shift differentials

This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

We offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum. For example:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = +$3.00/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = +$3.00/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = +$4.50/hr. Shift Differential

As a Surgery Veterinary Assistant, you will:

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.
• Perform physical exam; accurately count heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Understand normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
• Be able to set up intravenous fluids.
• Administer subcutaneous fluids.
• Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
• Disconnect and connect patients from intravenous fluids aseptically.
• Monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
