Job summary

Animal Medical Center of Saline is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our team and support exceptional experiences for our clients and patients across all aspects of hospital care. This is a versatile role that involves patient care, client service, surgery, dentistry, and outpatient procedures.

This is a flexible, full-time position with a 4-10s schedule and availability Monday-Thursday, plus rotating Saturdays.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in a veterinary assistant role preferred.
• Proficiency in safe animal handling and restraint for dogs and cats.
• Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and patient care principles.
• Ability to assist with exams, treatments, and outpatient procedures.
• Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining patient weights and vital signs.
• Ability to maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation.

Responsibilities

• Supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows.
• Assisting veterinarians during exams, treatments, surgical procedures, and dentistry.

• Preparing patients, equipment, and treatment areas for appointments and procedures.
• Monitoring anesthesia and supporting patient recovery as directed by the veterinary team.
• Performing dental prophylaxis and dental radiography.
• Maintaining accurate medical records and treatment documentation.
• Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately.
• Building positive client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service.

In this position, you will take an active role in:

Schedule and compensation:

• Compensation: $17 - $21 per hour, for each hour worked
• This is a flexible, full‑time position, with a 4-10s schedule and availability needed Monday-Thursday, and rotating Saturdays.

Minimum qualifications and skill set:

• 1+ years of experience in a veterinary assistant experience preferred
• Proficiency in the following skills:
  • Safe animal handling and restraint skills for dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments
  • Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and patient care principles
  • Ability to assist with exams, treatments, and outpatient procedures
  • Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining patient weights and vital signs preferred
  • Ability to maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and multitask in a fast‑paced environment

This is a good‑faith estimate based on the role's requirements at the time of posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
