Foothill Farms Veterinary Hospital in Sacramento, CA is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team. You will rotate between technician appointments and working with doctors during exams and procedures, assisting with exams, treatments, and coordinating orders.

This full-time role offers a 5/8 schedule, with availability for one weekend day. Part-time weekend shifts may be available, with opportunities to pick up additional shifts as needed.

Foothill Farms Veterinary Hospitalhas an exciting opportunity for an experiencedVeterinary Assistantto join our team! Our nursing team plays a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and in delivering thorough client education.

In this role, you’ll rotate between seeing technician appointments independently and working alongside our doctors during exams and procedures. You’ll assist with exams and treatments, set up for procedures, and coordinate with your team to manage the veterinarian’s orders. This position is ideal for someone with strong foundational nursing skills who excels in client engagement and collaborative care.

Responsibilities include:

• Supporting efficient exam room and outpatient workflow to ensure exceptional patient and client care
• Maintaining accurate, thorough medical records and treatment documentation
• Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
• Supporting veterinarians during outpatient procedures and treatments while providing high-quality patient care
• Building positive relationships with clients through education, communication, and attentive service

Schedule and compensation:

• Compensation: $20-24 per hour, for each hour worked
• This is a full-time position working a 5/8 schedule, with availability required for one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday).
• There are part-time opportunities available for those who are able to work weekend shifts, with some opportunity to pick up additional shifts as needed.

Minimum qualifications and skill set:

• 3+ years of veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel, or related role preferred
• Proficiency in the following skills:
  • Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and patient care principles
  • Ability to assist with exams, treatments, and outpatient procedures
  • Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining patient weights and vital signs preferred
  • Ability to maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
  • Compassionate, professional communication with clients and team members
  • Physical ability to stand, bend, lift, and restrain patients safely throughout the workday
  • Familiarity withCornerstonesoftware andFear Free Certificationis a plus!
