Summary Of Job Purpose And Function

The Veterinary Assistant supports veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing quality veterinary care for pets, advocates for pets, educates clients on pet health, and maintains a safe hospital environment.

Essential Responsibilities And Tasks

1. Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.
2. Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians to ensure high-quality pet care and maximize productivity.
3. Communicate effectively with the veterinary team to maintain smooth patient flow.
4. Provide professional, efficient, and exceptional service, including performing procedures within scope, preparing for other procedures, and monitoring hospitalized or surgical pets as permitted by law.
5. Educate clients about wellness plans, preventive care, and hospital services.
6. Obtain and document relevant client information and medical history.
7. Ensure safety by using proper restraining techniques, following protocols, and maintaining clean treatment areas.
8. Assist with surgeries as applicable.
9. Utilize technical skills within legal scope and NAVTA guidelines.
10. Mentor other paraprofessionals.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.
