Job summary

What Our Veterinary Assistants Do

As a Veterinary Assistant at A Cat's Place, you'll play an essential role in supporting our veterinarians and veterinary technicians while helping keep our patients comfortable and our hospital running smoothly.

  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during wellness and illness appointments
  • Safely and compassionately handle and restrain feline patients during examinations, treatments, and procedures
  • Obtain thorough patient histories and accurately document medical information
  • Assist with patient care and treatments as directed by the medical team
  • Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas for appointments and procedures
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient medical records
  • Clean, organize, stock, and maintain hospital and treatment areas
  • Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients
  • Support client education and reinforce veterinarian recommendations
  • Monitor patient comfort and communicate concerns to the appropriate team member
  • Collaborate with teammates to maintain an efficient daily workflow
  • Jump in wherever needed to support patients, clients, and coworkers
