Veterinary Assistant – Full Time

Brunswick Animal Hospital is seeking a compassionate, team‑oriented Veterinary Assistant to join our growing 6‑doctor practice. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys client interaction, patient care, and wants to continue developing their technical skills in a supportive environment.

Compensation

  • $16 - $20 per hour

Schedule

  • Monday-Friday: 7:45 AM - 5:30 PM
  • One weekday off each week
  • Every other Saturday: 7:45 AM - 12:30 PM

Hospital Hours

  • Monday-Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Saturday: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM

What You’ll Do

  • Room patients and obtain accurate medical histories
  • Discuss core and lifestyle vaccines with clients
  • Educate clients on preventative care and parasite prevention
  • Assist with patient triage and treatment plans
  • Restrain patients safely and effectively
  • Collect diagnostic samples
  • Assist doctors and technicians with treatments and procedures
  • Discuss the importance of early detection bloodwork and wellness screening
  • Maintain accurate medical records using proper medical terminology
  • Support the veterinary team in providing exceptional patient care

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong communication and client service skills
  • Knowledge of core versus lifestyle vaccines and vaccination protocols
  • Familiarity with common veterinary medications
  • Understanding of veterinary medical terminology
  • Experience restraining animals and collecting samples
  • Venipuncture experience is preferred but not required; training available
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment

What You’ll Bring to the Team
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Confidence and skill in handling pets of all sizes and temperaments.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in fundamental veterinary skills ranging from laboratory and pharmacy to nursing and radiology is a strong asset.
