Job summary

Brunswick Animal Hospital in Supply, NC is hiring a Veterinary Assistant to join a 6-doctor practice. You will engage with clients, discuss vaccines, and support the care team with triage, testing, and patient handling in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation is hourly with benefits through Mission Pet Health, including medical/dental/vision, 401k, and Teladoc access, plus opportunities for professional growth and certifications.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Calm and efficient in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience restraining animals and collecting samples.
  • Strong communication and client service skills.
  • Knowledge of core vs lifestyle vaccines and vaccination protocols.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a veterinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients and obtain accurate medical histories.
  • Discuss core and lifestyle vaccines with clients.
  • Educate clients on preventative care and parasite prevention.
  • Assist with patient triage and treatment plans.
  • Restrain patients safely and effectively.
  • Collect diagnostic samples.
  • Assist doctors and technicians with treatments and procedures.
  • Discuss the importance of early detection bloodwork and wellness screening.
  • Maintain accurate medical records using proper medical terminology.
  • Support the veterinary team in providing exceptional patient care.

Veterinary Assistant – Full Time

Brunswick Animal Hospital is seeking a compassionate, team-oriented Veterinary Assistant to join our growing 6-doctor practice. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys client interaction, patient care, and wants to continue developing their technical skills in a supportive environment.

Compensation
  • $16 - $20 per hour
Schedule
  • Monday-Friday: 7:45 AM - 5:30 PM
  • One weekday off each week
  • Every other Saturday: 7:45 AM - 12:30 PM
Hospital Hours
  • Monday-Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Saturday: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
What You'll Do
  • Room patients and obtain accurate medical histories

  • Familiarity with common veterinary medications
  • Understanding of veterinary medical terminology
  • Experience restraining animals and collecting samples
  • Venipuncture experience is preferred but not required; training available
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficiency in fundamental veterinary skills ranging from laboratory and pharmacy to nursing and radiology is a strong asset.
