Job summary

McCormick Animal Clinic in Nashville, TN is seeking a Veterinary Assistant with at least 1 year of hands-on experience. The role involves restraining pets, assisting in exams, collecting lab samples, and supporting nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases.

You will work closely with veterinarians and staff to communicate treatment plans and ensure compassionate patient care. This position offers ongoing training and development opportunities in a busy, pet‑focused clinic.

Qualifications

• An experienced Veterinary Assistant with a minimum of 1-year experience required.
• Compassionate, Calm, Team Player, Multi-Tasker and Strong Communicator.
• Veterinary technician license is preferred, but not required.
• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring are a bonus!
• Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.

Responsibilities

• Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, assisting in exam rooms, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging.
• Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications.
• Effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.
• Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises and may be exposed to bites or disease.

McCormick Animal Clinic is a full-service animal clinic serving the Nashville, TN (Donelson) area for over 30 years. Your pet’s health is very important to us and we will take every step to give your pet the best possible vet care. Our veterinarians and staffwork closely together to ensure your pet can have the best quality of life through our variety of vet services. Our animal hospital is equipped to provide comprehensive and compassionate care to better serve your pet including wellness care, dental exams, dental x-rays, spay and neuter, boarding, grooming, and more!

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, assisting in exam rooms, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Pay Range: $16-$19/hr
