PetVet Care Centers' Belle Forest Animal Hospital is currently seeking a Veterinary Assistant/Veterinary Technician to join our team!

Position Overview

Join our team as a Veterinary Assistant/Veterinary Technician who supports hospital operations by providing quality veterinary care and exceptional service to our patients and clients. Responsibilities include providing patient care, diagnosing, assisting during surgery, nursing, feeding, maintaining supplies, equipment, records, triage, discharge, and overall clinical support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determine animal requirements by conducting examinations and interviews, reviewing care plans, completing laboratory tests and imaging.
  • Care for patients by taking vital signs, collecting samples, administering medications and vaccines, and bandaging wounds.
  • Support examinations and operations by assembling supplies, securing patients, restraining patients, and aiding as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Apply full knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, and specialized equipment and drug administration.
  • Obtain and verify medications.
  • Ensure patients have food and water; clean rooms, cages, and equipment; observe patients for clinical signs.
  • Fill prescriptions and administer medications with proper documentation and controlled‑drug logging.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and humane environment by sterilizing instruments, sanitizing areas, storing supplies, verifying shelf life, and complying with regulations.
  • Maintain medical records, documenting conditions, reactions, and changes; update the database accurately and timely.
  • Communicate with pet owners about patient status as directed.
  • Maintain equipment, troubleshoot, perform preventive maintenance, and request repairs.
  • Maintain inventory, place orders, verify receipts.
  • Update job knowledge through education and professional journals.
  • Release pets to owners, ensuring they are clean and groomed.
  • Follow oral and written directions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or practice.
Qualifications (Required)
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Relevant experience in a veterinary setting.
  • Ability to work with sick animals, hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors.
  • Professional and mature communication skills.
  • Physical stamina for lifting, cleaning, constant motion, and heavy animals up to 50 pounds.
  • Can work extended periods at a keyboard or workplace, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Answer phones and perform other duties as needed.
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
  • Two years of experience as a veterinary assistant.
  • Certification as CVT, LVT, RVT, or LVMT.
Schedule

Monday–Friday 7 AM–6 PM and required every other Saturday 8 AM–1 PM.

Pay Range

$14.12 — $22.14 USD
