Job summary

McCormick Animal Clinic is hiring a Veterinary Assistant with at least 1 year of experience to join our Nashville area team. You will restrain pets, assist in exams, collect lab samples, and help with imaging and anesthesia support as needed.

Qualifications

• An experienced Veterinary Assistant with a minimum of 1-year experience required.
• Compassionate, calm, team player, multi-tasker and strong communicator.
• Veterinary technician license preferred but not required.
• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, medical histories, lab tests and radiographs; anesthesia monitoring is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Pet restraint and triage incoming patients.
• Assist in exam rooms and communicate treatment plans to clients.
• Collect and analyze lab samples; perform diagnostic imaging.
• Provide nursing care to hospitalized animals and assist with surgeries.
• Administer medications and monitor anesthesia as needed.

Job Description

Job duties include, but are not limited to: Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, assisting in exam rooms, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

We’re looking for:

Pay Range

$16-$19/hr
