Job summary

McCormick Animal Clinic in Nashville, TN seeks an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our full-service practice. You will assist in exams, triage patients, collect samples, and support anesthesia monitoring with a collaborative team.

We value compassionate, calm team players who can handle multiple tasks while delivering clear client communications. Previous veterinary tech license is a plus but not required; dedication to growth is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year experience as Veterinary Assistant.
• Compassionate, calm, team player, multi-tasker and strong communicator.
• Veterinary technician license is preferred, but not required.
• Must be able to restrain pets properly.
• Experience with sample collection, histories, lab tests, radiographs and anesthesia monitoring is a bonus.
• Self-starter with desire to advance knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities

• Triage incoming patients and assist in exam rooms.
• Collect and analyze lab samples and perform radiographs as needed.
• Provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases and manage medications.
• Explain treatment plans clearly to clients and assist in surgical prep and anesthesia.
• Communicate effectively with the team to support patient care.

McCormick Animal Clinic is a full-service animal clinic serving the Nashville, TN (Donelson) area for over 30 years. Your pet's health is very important to us and we will take every step to give your pet the best possible vet care. Our veterinarians and staffwork closely together to ensure your pet can have the best quality of life through our variety of vet services. Our animal hospital is equipped to provide comprehensive and compassionate care to better serve your pet including wellness care, dental exams, dental x-rays, spay and neuter, boarding, grooming, and more!

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, assisting in exam rooms, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

Additional Information

Pay Range: $16-$19/hr
