Veterinary Assistant – Banfield Pet Hospital

The Veterinary Assistant is a key member of the hospital team who supports and assists veterinarians and veterinary technicians, ensuring pet safety and quality of care. The role involves helping maintain patient flow, communicating with veterinarians and technicians, setting up procedures that do not require assistance, adhering to hospital cleanliness standards, educating clients about Optimum Wellness Plans, and mentoring staff.

Responsibilities

• Help maintain the flow of patients.
• Communicate with veterinarians and vet techs.
• Carry out or set up procedures that do not require veterinarian or vet tech assistance.
• Adhere to hospital standards that keep pets safe and maintain clean treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
• Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans® and preventive care.
• Mentor other members of the hospital team.

Qualifications

• Certificate of completion from a NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to perform all required skills of NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant programs at a level that aids in practice efficiency.
• Action‑oriented, customer‑focused, good listeners, effective communicators, and caring for those who care.

Pay Range: $17.60 - $22.49 Hourly. The specific rate is determined based on candidate’s experience, skill level, and education, and may vary by location.
