Job summary

Meredith Place Veterinary Emergency is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced emergency team in Meredith, NH. The role is full-time with 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM shifts and includes four weekend shifts per month. Pay ranges from $18.00 to $22.00 per hour, based on experience.

We value compassionate patient care and teamwork. You will support clinicians during exams and treatments, assist with anesthesia and radiographs, and help maintain a clean, efficient hospital

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of veterinary assistant experience.
• Emergency or urgent care experience preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians during emergency examinations and treatments.
• Safely restrain patients for exams, diagnostics, and procedures.
• Prepare treatment and exam areas for incoming patients.
• Assist with IV catheter placement, blood draws, laboratory sample collection, and diagnostic testing.
• Support anesthesia preparation, surgical setup, and patient recovery.
• Monitor hospitalized patients and communicate changes to the medical team.
• Take radiographs and assist with patient positioning.
• Clean, sterilize, and maintain medical equipment.
• Provide compassionate client communication and discharge instructions.
• Maintain accurate medical records and help keep the hospital running efficiently.

What You’ll Do

As a Veterinary Assistant, you’ll be an important part of our emergency team by:

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum of 1 year of veterinary assistant experience required
• Emergency or urgent care experience preferred
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and handling critical cases
• Strong patient restraint and animal handling skills
• Experience with laboratory procedures, radiographs, and surgical assistance preferred
• Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills
• Positive attitude and commitment to providing exceptional patient care
