Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital in Minnesota is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians, ensuring the safety of pets, clients and staff while maintaining quality veterinary care.

You will help manage patient flow, communicate care plans, assist with procedures, keep rooms clean, educate clients about preventive care, mentor teammates, and contribute to a safe, compassionate hospital environment.

Qualifications

  • Certificate from NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program or equivalent.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to perform NAVTA-approved program skills to support practice efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Help maintain the flow of patients through the clinic.
  • Communicate with veterinarians and veterinary technicians regarding patient care.
  • Carry out or set up procedures that do not require veterinarian or veterinary technician assistance.
  • Adhere to hospital standards to keep treatment areas, exam rooms and labs clean and organized.
  • Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans and the importance of preventive care.
  • Mentor other members of the hospital team.
  • Support the overall safety and well‑being of pets and staff.

Role Summary

As a key member of the hospital team, the Veterinary Assistant supports veterinarians and veterinary technicians, ensuring the safety of pets, clients and staff while maintaining the continuity of quality veterinary care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Must be able to perform all required skills of NAVTA‑approved programs at a level that aids in the efficiency of the practice.

Pay Range

$16.79 - $21.46 per hour (based on experience, skill level and education).
