Arkansas Veterinary Emergency & Specialists is the leading provider of specialty & emergency veterinary services in Arkansas. We seek a bright, motivated, energetic, and experienced veterinary assistant to join our growing practice. Ideal candidates should be diligent, professional, knowledgeable, and compassionate. Contributing to a team environment with the goal of providing the best quality of life for patients and excellent client service is essential. This position includes night shifts and weekends.

Duties include:
  1. Obtain vitals and a thorough history from clients at presentation.
  2. Restrain canines and felines safely and humanely for exams, diagnostics, and treatments.
  3. Perform venipuncture of Cephalic, Saphenous, and Jugular veins.
  4. Conduct hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, fecal, coagulation panels, and process samples for reference labs.
  5. Implement radiology techniques and positioning.
  6. Place and maintain intravenous and urinary catheters, including central lines.
  7. Calculate and administer medication doses, including oral, injectable, and CRI, with knowledge of drug compatibilities.
  8. Perform emergency anesthesia, including calculations, monitoring, and recovery.
  9. Complete medical records using hospital management software.
  10. Prepare and fill prescriptions prior to discharge.
  11. Review discharge instructions with clients.
  12. Handle client calls, questions, and schedule appointments.
  13. Work independently and collaboratively within a team.

We offer shift differentials for overnight and weekend shifts.

Schedule:
  • 12-hour shifts
  • Holidays, nights, overtime, and weekends as needed
