Job summary

Green Summit Animal Clinic in Lee’s Summit, MO is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and nurses and help run a smooth hospital daily.

You will restrain animals, collect samples, assist with imaging, administer meds, and communicate clearly with clients. We value compassion, teamwork, and a commitment to client education.

Qualifications

• At least one year of veterinary assistant experience preferred.
• Compassionate, calm, and team-oriented approach to patient care.
• Ability to safely restrain pets.
• Strong communication and multitasking in a busy veterinary setting.
• Willingness to learn, take initiative, and support the needs of the hospital.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Safely restrain pets during examinations, treatments, and procedures.
• Triaging incoming patients and communicating important observations to the veterinary team.
• Collecting and analyzing laboratory samples and assisting with diagnostic testing.
• Supporting diagnostic imaging, including preparing and processing radiographs.
• Providing nursing care for hospitalized patients with varying medical needs and stability levels.
• Administering medications as directed by the veterinary team.
• Preparing patients for surgery, assisting with surgical procedures, and supporting anesthesia monitoring.
• Obtaining medical histories and communicating treatment plans and care instructions to clients.
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment for patients, clients, and staff.
• Supporting veterinarians and veterinary technicians in delivering compassionate, high‑quality care.

As a Veterinary Assistant, you’ll work alongside veterinarians and other veterinary team members to provide excellent patient care and help keep daily hospital operations running smoothly. Your responsibilities will include:

This role involves working around animals that may be anxious or unpredictable, exposure to unpleasant odors and noises, and potential contact with bites, scratches, animal waste, and contagious diseases.

Experience with sample collection, obtaining medical histories, laboratory testing, radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring is a plus.
